      This is a non-partisan position, and the expectation is that the successful candidate will remain free from political party affiliation, bias, or designation for the duration of the appointment.

The anticipated start date for this position is in January 2024.

      Salary: The salary range is $46,271 - $77,424. Starting salary is based on professional work experience, qualifications, and related legislative/government experience.

      Telework: This position will work on-site in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol and is not eligible for remote work.

      Days of Work/Hours: Monday – Friday

      Appointment Type: Full-Time/Permanent

      Department: Senate Counsel, Research, and Fiscal Analysis

      Reports to: Drafting Support Specialist Supervisor

      Position Details

      The Office of Senate Counsel, Research, and Fiscal Analysis offers a unique opportunity to work in the legislature in a nonpartisan capacity. This position supports a dynamic office of energetic professionals by performing document remediation, organizing and retaining documents, providing front desk reception, and other administrative services as needed.

      Minimum Qualifications

      A High School diploma/GED/equivalent AND One (1) year of experience in a professional setting providing administrative support services.

      In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

      • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
      • Proofreading, editing, grammar, and spelling skills.
      • Ability to edit, convert, tag, and format documents to ensure accessibility to people with disabilities in compliance with state law or the willingness to learn these skills.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree
      • Oral and written communications skills.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.
      • Ability to balance conflicting demands.
      • Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
      • Familiarity with posting documents to websites.
      • Ability to self-direct work.
      • Knowledge of applicable state laws governing document accessibility.
      • Publication and template review, creation, and/or design experience.
