- Req#: 42702
- Serves as confidential staff assistant to the Deputy Director, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA);
- Serves as liaison for the Deputy Director in activities involving the Bureau Chiefs and Division Managers under the Deputy Director;
- Provides administrative support for the Director’s Office and other senior Agency staff;
- Assists with sensitive assignments for Agency senior staff;
- Serves as Agency point of contact for United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for the Performance Partnership Agreement (PPA);
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience serving as, or performing liaison activities with internal or external stakeholders that involve delicate, sensitive and confidential matters.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience in preparing and presenting reports, memoranda, correspondence, etc. in a clear and concise manner.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience communicating with members of the public or an organization’s stakeholders verbally and via email.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience planning, developing, and executing programs or policies in a public or private organization or business.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience conducting research into organizational, operational, or policy issues.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience maintaining schedules for senior management and/or staff in a public or private organization or business.
- Prefers at least (3) three years of experience in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software and/or equivalent software programs.
- Requires ability to pass a name based background check.
- Requires a current and valid driver’s license.
- Requires the ability to travel.

Position Overview
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Confidential Staff Assistant to the Deputy Director. The ideal candidate for this position will be organized, detailed and possess the ability to adapt to change in a collaborative, fast paced environment. The position requires confidentiality and professionalism, often under complex and sensitive circumstances. The ideal candidate will also need to be able to communicate effectively verbally, electronically, and in writing with both internal and external stakeholders.
