      The Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as an Administrative Assistant to the Insurance & Unemployment Fraud Division (IUFD) located within the Criminal Bureau, which is staffed by a group of experienced prosecutors who partner with financial investigators, Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Attorney General’s Office, and local, state, and federal investigative and enforcement agencies.

      IUFD investigates and prosecutes complex insurance and unemployment fraud cases in district and superior court. These cases include workers’ compensation fraud; unemployment tax and compensation fraud; motor vehicle insurance fraud; arson; false injury and property loss claims; fraud committed in the context of life, health, disability, and other types of insurance contracts and claims committed by claimants, employers, medical providers, insurance industry insiders, and attorneys. The Administrative Assistant to the Insurance & Unemployment Fraud Division is responsible for providing administrative and litigation support to the Assistant Attorneys General and Investigators within the Division. Additional roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the duties listed below.

      Primary Duties: The Administrative Assistant works directly with the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief in supporting the administrative and litigation needs of the Division. The Administrative Assistant handles critical and confidential materials, is in frequent contact with members of the public, and helps ensure the highest level of professionalism in IUFD. This is a fast-paced work environment that requires the ability to work on a range of complex matters, often under time pressure. Duties for the IUFD Administrative Assistant include:

      · Provide direct support to the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief, including assisting in compiling the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and the Division of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) Quarterly reports, maintaining, and updating case management systems, managing schedules (including the scheduling of critical dates, deadlines, and case-related appointments), and responding to telephone calls;

      · Work directly with IUFD staff, including Division Assistant Attorneys General, Investigators, and others;

      · Provide day-to-day support for all aspects of IUFD cases, including assisting with discovery production, trial preparation, and other legal support work;

      · Manage the IUFD hotline and referral process;

      · Organize, maintain, and update legal case files;

      · Systematically archive materials;

      · Assist with special projects;

      · Manage and track the Division’s technical equipment.

      Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

      Salary: $52,890 to $56,700, commensurate with experience

      · Strong database management skills, including proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Office (including Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and the capability to learn case-tracking software;

      · Ability to prioritize and manage several ongoing tasks and work under a tight schedule;

      · Prior legal administrative experience is preferred;

      · Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures surrounding insurance fraud and unemployment practices is desirable;

      · Working knowledge of Massachusetts criminal law and procedure;

      · Ability to assimilate legal and technical information and work independently, as well as part of a team;

      · Experience interacting with members of the public is preferred.
