Job Description

- Collaborate and sustainably influence external project team members to deliver detailed experimental protocols;
- Actively participates in the advancement decision process with our external scientists;
- Train and influence team members and seasonal employees across the Breeding network on standard operating procedures and data collection/trial execution;
- Recognized as a key member of site leadership team. Organize and execute day-to-day priorities of the site either alone or as the leader of a small team. Actively participates in attracting and hiring new talent at the concerned site and across NAFTO e.g. by serving on interview panels;
- Responsible for the design and implementation of unique and innovative technology solutions designed to improve research and operations;
- Deep understanding of research equipment, data management with internal IT systems, comply with regulated and/or stewarded seed stewardship standards, complete and/or participate in safety inspections/training and comply with all policies and standard operating procedures. Maintain 100% error-free compliance and ensure team safety by serving as an SRR to help maintain our freedom to operate;
- Ability to acquire, analyze and interpret large datasets. Capable of turning data into new insights that influence future trial design and improve overall network data quality;
- Supervise work of contractors at field locations and coach our counsel, as needed;
- Engage in community relation and sustainability activities;
- Serve as a technical representative on agronomic topics such as product pipeline development, agronomy practices, and compliance standards;
- Actively engaged with partners in marketing and commercial to represent Bayer products with our customers. Key contact with university partners as a representative for Bayer crop science. Assists in the recruiting and retention of key talent;
- Actively participates in site/North America Field Testing Operations/Bayer's effort to positively impact the planet and increase Bayer’s visibility as a responsible citizen and scientific leaders across the local community of the region. Also, actively represents Bayer across scientific/professional societies by serving on scientific and professional development committees to increase Bayer's visibility, promote Bayer's vision, and attract talent;
- Continually looks for opportunities to challenge the status quo and increase R&D operations efficiency right from the research planning to data reporting phase;
- Have an aptitude for recognizing collaboration opportunities (before others) both within and outside company to drive Bayer's vision of designing the future of agriculture;
- Ability to create short- and long-term goals for their respective programs that align with organizational strategy and vision. Influences goals in other functions;
- Travel up to 15% of the time particularly during peak seasons;
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons (including nontraditional day-time hours with the potential of limited overnight travel);
- Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle OR being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties – regardless of mileage.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Biology, Chemistry, Weed Science or related field;
- Prior research experience in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Biology, Chemistry, Weed Science, or related field;
- Valid driver’s license; In order to be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening;
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs;
- Ability to obtain pesticide applicator license;
- Ability to obtain UAV license for operating drones;
- Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons.
- PhD with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience, MS with minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or BS with minimum of 7 years relevant experience.

Agronomic Research Manager, Senior
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Agronomic Research Manager, Senior reports to the Regional Lead and is responsible for leading efforts locally and for our North America Field Testing Operations network including small plot field research in corn (maize), Soybeans, Cotton, Canola and Wheat. This role focuses on evaluation of new products and combinations in Chemistry, Plant Pathology and Biotechnology. They are expected to get results through high personal proficiency, delegation of tasks, coordinating the work of others, coaching and personal development of team members and the team, and collaborating regionally to innovate and improve processes. The Agronomic Research Manager Sr will work closely with trial owners and partner organizations to execute and optimize protocols. Agility, collaboration, communication, goal setting, business acumen, and the ability to think and act strategically and in alignment with Bayer’s LIFE values are key to success in the role.
