What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct field inspections and review animal health documentation and permits
- Investigate alleged violations and collect samples for disease surveillance
- Provide education and technical assistance to the regulated community
- Collaborate with farmers, veterinarians, business owners, and law enforcement
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities related to animal disease
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biological science, or a veterinary assistance program AND two (2) or more years of relevant regulatory experience AND three (3) years of experience in livestock farming or related enterprises
- OR High school graduation or equivalent, AND two (2) years or more at the Animal Health Specialist II level or equivalent position in a similar government organization
- Strong problem-solving skills in a field-based environment
- Ability to work independently while receiving professional support
- Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working in a regulatory environment related to animal health
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols for agricultural incidents
- Knowledge of livestock farming practices and management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in public service or outreach activities
