What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Obtain and record all authorizations needed for radiation treatment and services
- Follow up on Accounts Receivable for the Radiation department, including contacting insurance companies for non-payment of claims
- Coordinate with physicians for peer-to-peer reviews and update authorization requests as necessary
- Review patient accounts to ensure accuracy and timely payment per protocol
- Resolve patient billing complaints and questions, providing information in a professional manner
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of two years of authorization and/or accounts receivable follow-up experience, preferably in a medical and/or oncology setting
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients and insurance companies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient account status and financial affairs
- Proficiency in managing multiple A/R reports and following up on necessary information
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in medical billing within a healthcare or oncology setting
- Familiarity with insurance policies and medical guidelines
- Knowledge of fee schedules and reimbursement processes
- Experience with software such as Mosaiq or similar systems
- Participation in relevant seminars or continuing education in healthcare billing practices
