What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Maintain and improve the arboretum landscape, including mowing, weeding, trimming, and planting
- Scout for and identify disease, weed, and insect problems, implementing appropriate control measures
- Operate mowers, gators, chainsaws, and other tools safely and effectively
- Propagate plants and maintain related records for the arboretum collection
- Assist in maintaining the Arboretum database and mapping specimens using GPS technology

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to learn and operate basic power equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Forestry, or a related field
- Practical knowledge of plants and their care, including plant taxonomy
- Experience in integrated pest management and arboriculture
- Virginia certified pesticide applicator's license (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
- Ability to interact respectfully and inclusively with all individuals
