      Position Summary

      Edrington Middle East and Africa are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the team in the role of Area Manager – West Africa. This is a new role which will initially report to the MEAI Head of Commercial and will have commercial responsibility for the West Africa sub-region, based in Accra, Ghana.

      The role would suits an ambitious and rounded professional looking to build on existing people leadership and commercial competencies in a fast paced and unpredictable operating environment. Equally we would be keen to hear from dynamic, experienced commercial professionals looking for a unique ‘out of the box’ opportunity in a true emerging region.

      Job Description

      Some key responsibilities of the role include:

      • Lead and inspire partners and colleagues in West Africa to deliver set objectives and support through completion of development plans. Evaluate team and partners performance, structure, roles, and responsibilities to ensure the adequate balance of resource relative to the market needs.
      • Lead the team to deliver the budget and financial forecasting process for West Africa by collaborating with trade partners to prepare sales and marketing plans which achieve the Company’s goals.
      • Track the commercial progress against its targets by owning and managing the receipt of all required information from partners and supplementing with available market information and insight where available.
      • Ensure value chains are accurate, efficient, and reflective of the route to consumer structure, obtain real time sales volume reports and the related commercial and marketing spends.
      • Work in collaboration with the Assistant Brand Manager to ensure the efficient and effective use of A&P for marketing plans and selling costs for sales plans.
      • Communicate with partners, ensuring synchronisation between the sales and marketing plans.
      • Ensure strict compliance with Edrington codes of conduct in these areas and always maintain the highest ethical standards.
      • Participate in social contact with key customers and influencers to strengthen our consumer understanding.
      • Work in collaboration with the MEAI commercial team, conducting strategic reviews as required. Have an excellent understanding of distribution landscape/route to market and competitive environment.

      Skills and Experience

      To be considered for this role you will have extensive experience in commercial management and people development with demonstrable solid understanding of distribution landscape/route to market and competitive environment within an FMCG multinational or spirits’ company. You will have excellent interpersonal and networking skills and be able to manage multiple and often competing priorities. Strong numeric and analytical skills are essential. Given the global nature of our business, a working proficiency in French will be a distinct advantage.
