What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Research, analyze, and provide guidance on local property tax and assessment administration
- Assist in the administration of the State Average Tax Rate analysis and the DNR Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program
- Support the coordination of the State Assessed Property roll
- Calculate taxable values, transfers of ownership, and disabled veteran exemptions
- Develop Economic Condition Factors (ECF) and determine true cash values
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major
- Experience as a Property Analyst 9 requires no specific type or amount of experience
- One year of professional experience in real estate for Property Analyst 10 level
- Two years of professional experience in real estate for Property Analyst P11 level, including one year as a Property Analyst 10
- Military experience or relevant certifications may be considered in lieu of education requirements
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as a Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO), Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO), or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO)
- Experience utilizing BSA Assessing.net or BSA Cloud
- Familiarity with researching, interpreting, and analyzing the General Property Tax Act
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word and MS Excel
- Previous experience in equalization or assessing roles
