Contributing to the commercial assessment of specific illiquid asset opportunities
Working on the design, development and usage of quantitatively-oriented investment-related models, techniques and tools
Working on research projects looking at potential new asset classes, or methods of expansion of exposure to existing asset classes, for incorporation into the annuity asset strategy
Working on bespoke asset strategies to back specific potential annuity deals, including consideration of the right choices of liquid versus illiquid assets, and physical versus derivative assets
High quality, quantitative degree with a strong preference for a professional qualification such as investment, actuarial or finance.
Direct experience of investment decision-making or a high-level advisory role focused on these areas. A preference for knowledge of asset origination in an annuity business including credit analysis, matching adjustment eligibility, capital treatment and valuation methodology.
As a minimum, a good understanding of the quantitative tools required for decision making with a strong preference for a working knowledge of their use to enable investment assessment.
A team-player with a hands-on, proactive approach and an ability to drive forward change and build effective internal networks to deliver results, including a demonstrated ability to prioritise competing projects and keep multiple initiatives running.
A demonstrated ability to manage and influence key stakeholders including an ability to write clear, well-structured and easily understood documents and present them to committees.
- £65,000 - £80,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.

Asset Origination Manager – Salary: £65,000 - £80,000
Are you someone who enjoys problem-solving and getting stuck into the detail, are interested in long-term investments, enjoy working in a dynamic environment and collaborating with colleagues across the business to deliver results, want to develop your career and learn new skills, this role is for you.
This role is ideally suited for someone who has a quantitative degree, is professionally qualified, and is ready to step up from an analyst to manage a portfolio of new investment projects and transactions for UK Life’s annuity business.
A bit about the job:
You will be part of a direct team of 15 investment, finance and actuarial professionals who sit within the broader Chief Investment Officer (CIO) team. The team works collaboratively with colleagues in Aviva Investors (our in-house asset manager), Finance, Legal and Risk.
