What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Represent the Department of Children, Youth, and Families in child welfare cases, including dependency, guardianship, and termination of parental rights
- Conduct evaluations of evidence to determine legal sufficiency for court intervention
- Prepare witnesses and evidence for hearings or trials, including submitting relevant briefs to the court
- Collaborate with social workers and agency employees on case-related matters
- Manage a caseload of 60 or more cases, adapting to the fast-paced litigation environment
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a licensed attorney in Washington State or actively pursuing admission
- Graduation from a law school accredited by the ABA or completion of the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage an active caseload and meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel within Washington State for client representation
