What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide legal advice and representation to various state agencies serving vulnerable populations
- Manage individual caseloads and collaborate on multi-attorney trial teams
- Handle litigation in diverse settings, including administrative and state courts
- Seek protections for vulnerable adults and defend against lawsuits related to Medicaid and disability rights
- Assist with complex civil rights challenges and appeals regarding medical service eligibility
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school or completion of the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program
- Active license to practice law in Washington State or actively pursuing admission
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and manage competing demands
- Respectful and collegial attitude towards colleagues and support staff
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous litigation experience, although not required
- Demonstrated commitment to public service through background and experiences
- Interest in working with individuals with mental illness and in challenging legal environments
- Ability to multitask and provide coverage for team members as needed
- Enthusiasm for professional growth and development in public law practice
