What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide legal advice and representation to the Department of Licensing regarding driver license laws and agency decisions
- Litigate cases before the Office of Administrative Hearings, superior courts, and appellate courts
- Represent the Employment Security Department in challenges to agency orders on unemployment and Paid Family and Medical Leave benefits
- Advise and represent Eastern Washington University on student conduct and related issues
- Review legal documents for sufficiency and support litigation efforts as needed
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a licensed attorney in Washington State or actively pursuing admission
- Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school or completion of the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including superior communication and listening abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

- Experience providing client advice in a legal context
- Background in litigation, particularly non-tort cases
- Ability to work independently while being collegial and professional
- Familiarity with public service and commitment to advancing public interest
- A good sense of humor and ability to handle challenging personalities
