- Additional coursework/education beyond high school.
- Knowledge of and experience in an office environment with Microsoft Suite applications.
- Library experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of patron records and security of library systems
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds; push a cart full of books or hand truck with boxes; as well as reaching, stooping, kneeling and climbing.
- Set schedule: Academic year: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Summer: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Hours may be changed slightly due to department needs. Some weekends and holidays.
- Check out circulating library materials using an integrated library system (ILS).
- Interpret library policy and procedures to answer questions from students, faculty, staff, and the public, using good judgment to make sound decisions.
- Obtain materials for patrons from various library collections, or place holds or recalls as necessary to retrieve checked-out items.
- Search for missing material.
- Check-in, sort, and shelve materials.
- Handle some stacks management projects.
- Perform routine troubleshooting on miscellaneous library office equipment including photocopiers, printers, security gates, and doors.
- Report problems and communicate regularly with the supervisor.
- Assist with the day-to-day management and administration of both Circulation and Reserves.
- In the absence of the supervisor, act as the lead departmental authority.
- Help manage part-time staff and student employees, directing co-workers in daily and long-term tasks.
- Report progress and problems to the supervisor.
- Monitor departmental policies and procedures, with the intent and ability to document changes that identify and anticipate the needs of the student body and faculty, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Assist with managing reserve requests from faculty by placing items on temporary reserve for law courses.
- Suggest purchases for reserve for titles not owned by the library.
- Process new books for reserve and delegate work to part-time staff as needed.
- Assist in the training of part-time staff and student employees.
- Create and process automated reports for overdue materials, lost or missing items, and periodic inventories of collections and law school or library offices.
- Document circulation and reserve procedures, and update department policy and procedure manuals as needed.
- Report problems with reports or documentation to the supervisor.
- Coordinate filing of loose leaf and serial services by: training and scheduling part-time and student employees; delegating filing tasks; maintaining organized, automated records; monitoring filing activities for accuracy.
- Participate in staff training and development programs.
- Serve on library-wide teams and committees.
- Receive training for assigned back-up duties every year.
- Perform special projects or tasks as assigned.

The incumbent will work as part of a service-oriented team that greets patrons at the front desk of the library.
• Assist with supervising activities at the Circulation Desk and the Reserve collection, and training part-time staff and student assistants.
• Process materials for course reserves at the request of faculty.
• Oversee serials filing for the law library.
• Help create and run reports for the department.
• Check-out circulating library materials using an integrated library system (ILS).

• Participate in staff training and staff development activities, and performs other duties as assigned.
