      Position Title: Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts

      Department : 2500|Dean of Liberal Arts

      Responsibilities :
      The Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive academic environment within the college. The successful candidate will actively engage in various aspects of student advising, degree auditing, student orientation, recruiting, and contribute to the overall planning and execution of college academic events.

      Responsibilities:
      • Advise incoming and continuing students in the college, providing guidance on academic matters.
      • Conduct advisor training to ensure effective support for students.
      • Attend meetings of the Committee on Academic Affairs and Standards and Advising Council.
      • Hear student Suspension Appeals and review Late Withdrawal Appeals for the Dean.
      • Research and approve transfer credit for current students.
      • Organize faculty representatives for Orientation and other special advising events.
      • Advise all incoming Transfer Students, offering support whenever possible.
      • Assist Athletics in producing curriculum audits for student athletes.
      • Certify athletic curriculum audits for financial aid purposes.
      • Process DegreeWorks audits and exceptions.
      • Handle degree check sheets for graduation and conduct graduation audits.
      • Evaluate transfer credit and perform audits for certification of student athletes' academic eligibility.
      • Aid in processing administrative forms such as major changes, add/drop, etc.
      • Actively participate in student recruiting efforts, including local high school and college visits.
      • Assist in the development of college social media, web, and print materials for promotional purposes.
      • Organize and participate in the college portion of New Student Orientation.
      • Contribute to the planning and execution of Preview Day.
      • Assist in the development of new curriculum for majors and minors within the college.
      • Respond to student, faculty, and staff inquiries related to academic matters.
      • Collaborate in the planning and execution of commencement exercises.

      Qualifications:

      Required Qualifications:

      -Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

      Preferred Qualifications:

      -Master’s degree preferred. Degrees in liberal arts fields preferred, but others considered.

      -The applicant must be energetic and enthusiastic, have solid computer and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the missions of the University and the College of Liberal Arts.
