      ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-CAREER CENTER

      The UAB Career Center is seeking candidates to apply for the Assistant Director-Career Center. We are looking for candidates with experience advising college students at a four-year institution. This could include career coaching, academic advising, or peer advising. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, excellent teamwork capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. A demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; an effective collaborator who values working with multiple partners and on shared goals is essential. Building new relationships with faculty members and academic advisors is crucial, as well as possessing strong presentation skills and being involved in team-building activities.

      Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

      • Provides career development and job/internship search assistance to UAB students.
      • Develops collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents, creating awareness of career development and its impact on student's development and employability.
      • Develops and coordinates career education workshops, special events, and outreach programs, addressing developmental and experiential learning methods that lead to solid career awareness and knowledge.
      • Coordinates and teaches credit courses covering career decision-making and job search strategies, as well as career planning.
      • Maintains career support materials, including assessments, professional development resources, and other related materials and/or tools utilizing emerging technologies for online and on-campus students.
      • Identifies, proposes, and develops emerging technologies and other resources to meet the needs of the entire UAB student population at the appropriate stage of career development.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Annual Salary: $50,000 - $53,000

      Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

      Preferred Additional Qualifications:

      Candidates with a master's degree or pursuing a master’s in counseling, higher education, or human resources will be highly regarded. Experience in career services or career coaching is a plus. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, communications technology, and creative soft ware
