Employer is seeking an ambitious sales professional to join their growing fundraising program. As a top-tier Catholic research university, Employer offers a range of academic offerings and is committed to educating the whole person. With the launch of a comprehensive fundraising campaign, Employer is expanding their team and seeking an Assistant Director, Development.
Position Summary:
- Responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of leadership annual gift prospects
- Focus on soliciting outright gifts and multi-year pledges for Employer and its programs
- Collaborate with the Director of Leadership Annual Giving to develop programs, communications, and activities to support giving at the leadership level
- Build relationships, generate interest, and connect donors with their passions to attract funding for scholarship, experiential learning, and innovative programming
- Qualify, cultivate, and solicit alumni/ae, parents, and friends of Employer capable of making leadership annual gifts
Responsibilities:
- Devise and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospects
- Meet activity and revenue goals by planning and managing a regular travel schedule
- Execute cultivation methods including telephone, email, and personal visits
- Develop and implement retention and growth strategies for donors
- Participate in events and programs to support development activities
- Engage key volunteers and utilize established events to move solicitations forward
- Conduct appropriate stewardship activities to enhance donor relationships
- Solicit leadership annual gifts directly and with department colleagues and volunteers
- Communicate progress and results of cultivation efforts and visits
- Identify and qualify prospects for major gift capacity and interest
- Act as liaison between the Office of Development and various university departments and donors
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Two years of experience in university-based fundraising, non-profit fundraising, or outside sales
- Successful demonstration in reaching defined goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Valid driver's license and low-risk driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Greater than two years of experience in university-based fundraising, non-profit fundraising, or outside sales
- Demonstrated success in soliciting and securing gifts face to face with prospects
- Experience in problem-solving and applying organizational skills to fundraising or sales positions
- Ability to develop short-term and long-term strategies for prospects
- Strong customer service skills and adaptability to changing needs and environments
- Effective management of multiple tasks and volunteers
- Results-driven with the ability to develop and maintain relationships
- Experience working in higher education or non-profit environments
- Commitment to Employer's mission and a strong work ethic
- Successful demonstration in exceeding defined fundraising goals
- Experience with advancement databases such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce
- Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
