      Job Description:

      Assistant Director, Football Operations

      Job Summary

      Responsible for providing advanced administrative, operational, logistical, and strategic support for the football program. Serves as a senior member of the football operations staff and assists in football leadership in the planning, coordination, and execution of year-round football operations. Exercises significant independent judgement and decision-making authority in coordinating team travel, daily and seasonal scheduling, preseason training camp, postseason operations, team transportation, lodging, meals, facilities, special events, recruiting-related operational activities, and other major football program initiatives.

      Serves as a primary operational liaison among football staff, student-athletes, athletics administration, organizational departments, external vendors, hotels, transportation providers, postseason organizations, and other outside entities. Independently manages assigned operational areas, anticipates and resolves complex logistical issues, develops contingency plans, manages resources and expenditures, and makes time-sensitive decisions affecting student-athletes, coaches, staff, and overall program operations. Must be able to comply with all SEC, Champions Blue and NCAA rules and regulations.

      Essential Functions
      • Assists in developing, implementing, and managing operational plans that support the year-round administration of the football program.
      • Coordinates daily, weekly, seasonal, and annual schedules involving student-athletes, coaches, support personnel, and external stakeholders.
      • Manages assigned operational projects and initiatives from planning through execution, including development of timelines, budgets, and contingency plans.
      • Coordinates activities among football operations, coaching, recruiting, player personnel, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, equipment, video, communications, facilities, and other support units.
      • Plans, coordinates, and executes team travel operations, including transportation, lodging meals, meeting space, equipment movement, itineraries, and related logistics.
      • Serves as a primary liaison with vendors, hotels, transportation providers, conference representatives, host institutions, postseason organizations, and other external partners.
      • Assists with the planning and execution of conference championchip, postseason, bowl game, playoff, preseason camp, and special event operations.
      • Coordinates gameday, training camp, team function, and special event logistics, including staffing, transportation, facility coordination, and operational support.
      • Serves as an operational decision-maker during assigned events and activities and responds to logistical issues requiring immediate resolution.
      • Assists in planning, monitoring, and administering football operational budgets and expenditures.
      • Coordinates procurement activities, vendor arrangements, purchasing processes, invoice review, expense reconciliation, and financial documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
      • Identifies operational efficiencies, monitors assigned expenditures and recommends cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high service standards.
      • Provides day-to-day direction and functional oversight to operations staff, interns, student workers, and temporary personnel.
      • Develops and maintains operational procedures, manuals, schedules, checklists, and communication plans.
      • Maintains effecctive working relationships with student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, organizational departments, conference personnel, and external partners.
      • Supports compliance with applicable institutional conferences, and NCAA regulations and assists with operational aspects of recruiting and student-athlete activities.
      • Supports emergency preparedness, crisis management, and operational continuity efforts.
      • Maintains confidentiality of student-athlete, personnel, recruiting, and organizational information.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Education Requirement

      Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, Sport Management, Business Administration, Communications, Event Management, Recreation Administration, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.

      Experience Requirement

      3 years of progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletics, football operations, athletic administration, event operations, or a related field.

      Experience in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football operations, and knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations preferred.

      An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

      All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

      Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

      Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

      Certifications & Licensures

      Valid Driver's license required.

      Must maintain eligibility to travel on behalf of the institution and represent the university in recruiting-related activities.

      Physical Demands

      This position requires regular standing, walking, and movement throughout athletic facilities, event venues, hotels, transportation terminals, practice locations, and competition sites. Responsibilities include intermittent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and transporting equipment, materials, luggage, supplies, and operational resources weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier items utilizing appropriate assistance and equipment.

      The position requires regular use of computers, mobile devices, scheduling systems, and communication platforms for planning, budgeting, travel coordination, event management, and operational administration. Frequent repetitive hand movements associated with typing, reporting, scheduling, documentation, and communication are required.

      Employees must be able to travel regularly and work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, preseason training camp, recruiting periods, postseason activities, and away competitions. The role requires the ability to navigate complex travel environments, respond to rapidly changing circumstances, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and make time-sensitive decisions under pressure. The position also requires effective communication with student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, vendors, and external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail in a fast-paced intercollegiate athletics environment.
