What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and sustain an externally funded research program
- Mentor, supervise, and train Data Science Ph.D., masters, and undergraduate students
- Teach one course per semester while developing innovative curriculum
- Engage in service to the Department, School, and University
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations that advance discovery in physical or environmental sciences
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related Computational Science by August 10, 2026
- Strong record or promise in publishing methodologically innovative work
- Broad fluency in probabilistic modeling, Bayesian approaches, and computational techniques
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Ability to coordinate collaborations across various scientific domains
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in grant writing
- Evidence of scholarly achievement or potential as a scholar
- Experience in teaching and mentoring successful research projects
- Strong collaborative skills across disciplines such as physics, engineering, or geoscience
- Commitment to advancing academic excellence for all learners in Data Science
