- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent level of education, experience, and training.
- Experience in a selective liberal arts & sciences college/university setting.
- Experience working full-time in a higher education or secondary school setting, with general knowledge of college and university programs, majors, admission requirements, and processes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to accurately disseminate information to a diverse population.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and navigate multiple projects providing a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member utilizing a high level of interpersonal skills.
- Five or more years of related professional experience.
- Three or more years of direct experience working in undergraduate admission and/or as a secondary-school counselor or college advisor.
- Specific familiarity with the Tri-State region including knowledge of secondary schools along with prospective student trends and interests specific to the region.
- Experience working in college admission, secondary school or college counseling, or college advising.
- Direct experience or familiarity with William & Mary.
- Familiarity with the Tri-State/NYC Metro region.
- This position requires significant travel including individual driving during evening hours and in congested/heavy traffic situations.
- Must be able to maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Regular overnight travel is required during the fall and spring recruitment travel seasons.
- Periodic evening and weekend work is required.
- Represent the university to students, parents, high school counselors, and alumni both on and off campus.
- This includes conducting group information sessions, attending college fairs, and visiting high schools, in addition to responding to individual inquiries about the admission process and the university via phone, email, and in person.
- Develop outreach efforts customized to their target market by considering the unique characteristics and secondary schools within assigned geographic territories.
- Lead the application review process for one or more regions by conducting thorough, holistic reviews of individual applications, selecting, and presenting several candidates to the committee, and by contributing to the committee selection process in other regions.
- This includes making admission decision recommendations to the committee, along with the authority to identify applications strong enough to bypass the standard committee process.
- The incumbent is expected to manage multiple territories within a larger region during the admission cycle, be well versed on the states, localities, and secondary schools within the region.
- This knowledge is expected to aid in evaluating the strength of the application and determining which applicants to present to the committee.
- Discretion within regional assignments is expected, including the ability to deny or waitlist an admission candidate without further review.
- Active role in designing and implementing regional, out-of-state focused communication to school counselors and prospective students.
- Key member of team coordinating and implementing an annual, out-of-state counselor fly-in program.
- Coordinate and participate in select virtual events for prospective students.
- The Assistant/Senior Assistant Director will be responsible for other duties and projects as assigned and based on office needs.

Job Description Summary:
The Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students who will contribute to the university's commitment to inclusive excellence.
The successful incumbent will participate in all aspects of the university admission cycle and should have a strong interest in contributing to office wide efforts to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students.
This position will be remotely located in, and primarily focused on, the Tri-State/NYC metro region including parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Incumbent will work independently from a remote location while still functioning as part of the larger Undergraduate Admission team.
Specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
• Work with Senior Associate Dean of Admission in developing and executing recruitment plans for assigned territories.
• Recommend tactical recruitment strategies aligned with William & Mary's strategic enrollment goals.
• Engage with multiple constituents including prospective students, parents, school counselors, and alumni including through in-person and virtual information sessions, high school visits, college fairs, emails, and other online or virtual programming.
• Read and evaluate applications for admission including primary responsibility for this region, including presenting applications as part of the admission review committee.
• Partner with Admission, Marketing and Alumni staff regarding potential regional programs for prospective students, admitted students and counselors.
• Operate out of a home-based office int Tri-State region, maintain regular communication with campus colleagues, and operate with a high level of autonomy.
• Periodic travel to campus for key admission events and training programs.
• Represent the university by participation in regional and national professional associations, and share best practices and market insights with Admission Office.
Additional responsibilities for this position may include, but not limited to, one or more of the following:
• Serve as a member of the Admission Office's counselor liaison team.
• Work with Admission Office campus events team to coordinate an on-campus, fly-in program for school counselors.
• Partner with Senior Associate Dean and campus partners to develop communication campaigns specific to out-of-state counselors.
• Assist Admission and Marketing partners with developing targeted communication campaigns focused on Tri-State region prospective students along with out-of-state students more broadly.
• Coordinate and participate in select virtual events for prospective students.
