What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Defend lawsuits filed in Florida courts against the employer's insureds
- Represent the employer in subrogation, Uninsured Motorist (UM), and Underinsured Motorist (UIM) lawsuits
- Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial
- Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance, defense, and/or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED
- Admission to the Florida Bar REQUIRED
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Florida
- Strong organizational, priority-setting, and multi-tasking skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience
- Professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence
