- Organization Leadership
- Lead and implement employee relations practices necessary to establish and promote a high level of employee morale
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers regarding leadership competencies, including performance management, training, and organizational development and structure
- Oversee People team (hiring, onboarding, development, and coaching) and coordinate the selection and use of additional People team consultants, insurance carriers, pension administrators, training specialists, employment counsel and other outside sources
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure close tracking of all People team spending
- Assess current practices and lead change efforts to continuously improve the delivery of People practices
- Serve on various cross-organizational task forces and committees as required, including but not limited to DEI Action Committee and Culture Committee
- Team Leadership
- Partner closely with hiring managers to design and manage productive recruiting efforts. Establish and run standard hiring and selection practices to ensure equity. Ensure candidate experience is positive across all searches, with the ability to run at least 1-2 searches
- Establish effective on-boarding and off-boarding policies and Ensure consistent implementation and follow through
- Manage Employee Engagement strategies, surveys, and action Creatively manage other methods of employee pulse checks and feedback forums
- Manage the design and implementation of training and development Identify internal needs and oversee relationships with external resources to provide necessary education and materials to management and staff for workshops, lunch n' learn seminars, manuals, etc.
- Establish compensation programs & policies; ensure transparency and fluency among all staff on compensation programs
- Formulate and recommend policies, procedures, and objectives and conduct continuous assessment of all People programs and practices to ensure compliance, competitiveness, and equity
- Monitor organization compliance with federal and state laws, ensuring Employee Handbook is up-to-date and equitable. Direct information requested or required for compliance. Act as primary contact with labor counsel and government agencies
- Manage benefit program design and selection for all staff and executives. Establish and maintain effective vendor
- Oversee HRIS management and records maintenance
- Partner closely with the Office of the President, CAFO, and others to ensure well run staff meetings and staff communications
- Design, and oversee development, implementation and management of staff recognition and appreciation programs
- Alongside the People team Assistant, ensure proactive organization-wide calendaring for holidays and observances
- Passionate and mission oriented, with a strong connection to the purposeful and vital work that CJP engages in to build an inclusive Jewish community
- 10+ years of demonstrated success as an HR Business Partner, working within a HR/People function in an organization of comparable scale and complexity; some non-profit sector experience will be helpful, but is not required
- Possess a process improvement mindset and an enthusiasm for helping people adopt change
- Comprehensive knowledge of all areas of HR to include Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, HRIS, and Compliance
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to help develop creative and innovative people solutions to organizational issues
- Strong business writing and presentation skills
- Prior experience leading and further developing a small team of People professionals
- BA/BS or equivalent knowledge/experience is required

The Culture

As CJP continues its mission and strives to ensure an inclusive and engaging employee experience, it has hired a new Chief Administrative & Financial Officer (CAFO) and retained a Senior People Advisor to ensure strategic guidance to senior management on talent planning and development, leadership training & coaching, DEIB, employee relations, and total rewards. The Vice President, People will serve as their thought partner and will lead the day-to-day delivery of this impactful work.
The Position
Reporting to the CAFO the Vice President will oversee a team of three People team professionals and ensure excellence, accessibility, and equity for all generalist functions (Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Employee Relations, Benefits, Compensation, Policy Compliance, Training and Development, and Performance Management).
Candidate Profile
CJP is committed to a competitive total compensation package, including a target base salary range of 170-185K with comprehensive benefits and generous vacation and holiday policy.
CJP is currently working in a 2:3 office/home hybrid environment (Tuesday & Wednesday being in-office).
