      Position Details:

      Summary of Duties:

      The Audit Manager is a management level, senior auditor position. This position reports directly to the CAE of Internal Audit and manages assigned audits, special projects and other audit services.


      Assigned audits include internal control evaluations, compliance, operational, financial irregularity and special projects. The Audit Manager assists in risk assessment activities and developing and managing the annual audit plan of audit activities within available resources.

      Audit services include knowledge sharing and providing training and development to Office staff and the University community in the areas of internal control, control risks and fraud, compliance and operational efficiency and effectiveness.


      Required Qualifications:

      • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

      • Five (5) to six (6) years of professional auditing or accounting experience. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or comparable field. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

      • Professional certification as a CPA, CIA, or CFE and/or advanced academic studies.

      • Knowledge and experience in compliance auditing, grant and contract auditing, financial, management and technology controls.

      • Experience using a desktop computer, keyboard skills (typing), and calculator. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and/or O365 applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.

      • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential, including active listening skills, and verbal presentation skills.

      • Demonstrated ability to interact independently and effectively with all levels of management. Strong analytical skills, including collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Internal auditing experience in higher education. Strong experience in higher education finance and grants management is desired.

      • Familiarity with TeamMate, Workday, PowerBI, SQL servers, automated business information systems and applications, terminology, concepts and best practices.

      • Preference will be given to candidates with experience using data mining or audit analysis software tools.

      • Experience in auditing IT systems, technology controls, and cybersecurity, with the ability to assess IT risks and ensure the integrity and security of the University’s technology infrastructure.

      Additional Information:

      This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.

      Monthly Salary: $7,683.00 - $10,531.94 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

      In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
