What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Code and abstract patients' records for professional billing
- Review patient medical records for accurate coding and sequencing of diagnoses and procedures
- Assist with coding requests and provide support for insurance denials
- Recommend process improvements related to registration and charge posting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and insurance industry regulations
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of two years current experience with ICD-9, CPT coding, and health insurance provider rules and regulations
- Coding Certification required
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Working knowledge of computer information systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- One to two years of post-high school education preferred
- Knowledge of physician EM coding desired
- Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire
