- Post-secondary degree in a related field (user experience design, communications, content design, English, library science) and 4 years of progressive and recent, related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience leading a team responsible for web content development, writing or the design, delivery and continuous improvement of high-quality digital products and services.
- Experience managing complex, high profile cross-government/agency projects with multiple interdependencies.
- Experience supervising staff, including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans, mentorship, approval of leave, response to grievances and initiation of disciplinary processes.
- Experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with senior leaders in internal and external organizations.
- Negotiating agreements and/or managing budgets.
- Experience managing complex digital and/or information technology and/or integrated analytics projects.
- Briefing senior executives within an organization.
- Working with Government Communications and Public Engagement.

GDX - DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW
The Government Digital Experience Division (GDX) is responsible for ensuring government services and information are available online through government’s main web presence at www.gov.bc.ca, and that ministry programs and services are informed by the input and experiences of the people in British Columbia.
GDX works to help government understand the informational needs of people in the province, and to help the public find and access the services they need from government. GDX supports people-focused policy development and great service experiences. The division delivers products and services to ministry partners and organizations including design and delivery of public engagement projects, field research with service users, plain language writing of online service information, analytics, and training. It supports the technology of online applications and websites including gov.bc.ca, and the technology that delivers news releases.
The Connected Service Experiences team works across government to support ministries in the design and delivery of inclusive, accessible and equitable service experiences for people in British Columbia.
This team takes an evidence-based approach to the design of citizen experiences, applying research, design and evaluation methodologies to all aspects of both digital and non-digital services, information and policy.
This is a new branch created as a result of the success of connecting services for real people during the pandemic and is responding to direction in government’s mandate to support all of government to create accessible multi-channel services. The branch provides leadership and expertise and bring together teams and disciplines to support ministries, partners and the public to modernize government services and leverage best-in-class digital and non-digital tools. This role will lead portfolios that will be organized around priority streams of work including CleanBC, Health and Emergency Coordination.
In this work, GDX aims to build capacity with the teams we work with and will work together with interaction designers, researchers, service designers, content writers, strategists, evaluators and project managers.
JOB OVERVIEWTo provide authoritative advice, interpretation and/or consultation services while leading a team of content specialists who provide professional expertise in the delivery of services specific to the area of specialty.

About this Position:
The BCGEU has agreed to a temporary exclusion for this position. This is effective immediately and is limited to August 2, 2024. The status of this position is under review for permanent exclusion and if agreed to, will be excluded from the union. The ministry will be seeking permanent exclusion from the union prior to the expiration date listed above. Please be aware that in the event this position’s exclusion status is denied, this position will be evaluated according to the Public Service Job Evaluation Plan and placed in the Bargaining Unit.
There are currently 2 permanent positions available.
