- A Master’s Degree or higher in resource management or related studies, and minimum 5 years of related experience* in resource management; OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree in resource management or related studies, and minimum 7 years of related experience* in resource management; OR
- A technical diploma in resource management or related studies, and minimum 10 years of related experience* in resource management; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and/or related experience* may be considered.
- Experience negotiating solutions and/or partnerships with stakeholders in natural resource management.
- Experience working with First Nations’ communities and facilitating First Nations’ consultations or negotiations.
- Experience managing and leading geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary staff.
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives and leading organizational change associated with implementation.
- Experience in management of financial resources and/or projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading, coaching and/or managing multi-disciplinary professional and/or technical staff.
- Experience in a management capacity dealing with politically sensitive and/or provincially significant issues.
- Significant (5 or more years) experience working with First Nations’ communities and facilitating First Nations’ consultations or negotiations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience negotiating solutions and/or partnerships with stakeholders in natural resource management.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence or equivalent.
- Travel is required including frequent travel to deliver management support to both locations.
- Must be willing to meet the transportation arrangements required by the ministry (i.e. travel in small aircraft, helicopter, driving on natural resource roads, etc.).

Bring your vision, leadership and strategic planning skills to this important role.The ministry delivers a range of legislative authorities and provides clients with a single point of access to natural resource authorizations and resource management services at many locations across the province. Regional Operations, the operational delivery arm of the ministry, is structured as 23 districts within eight regions under the leadership of three geographically based Assistant Deputy Ministers. This position is an integral part of the Regional Management Team, composed of Directors, District Managers and BC Timber Sales Managers, reporting to the Regional Executive Director (RED). In this capacity, the position serves regional and provincial priorities and goals and provincial initiatives in delivering an integrated approach in provincial land management, responsible for stewardship of provincial crown land, cultural and natural resources, authorizations and for maintaining and supporting BC's Market Pricing System
The position develops and maintains a broad network of strategic and business leadership relationships across the Natural Resource Sector agencies to provide leadership in implementation of collaborative agreements and tactical Forest Landscape Planning (FLP) initiatives within the Northeast Region and promote successful delivery of the priorities and goals of the Ministry of Forests.
Working closely with the Regional Management Team, the position ensures that tactical landscape plans can be implemented in a way that supports the mandate of the ministry by supporting the production and supply of timber, protection and conservation of the environment, managing the values placed on ecosystems by all communities and managing the significant disturbances to forest health. This requires strong leadership and collaboration across the Regional Management Committee and including natural resource sector partners, Indigenous nations, harvest licensees and stakeholders to provide operational clarity that can lead to effective decisions and desired outcomes.
Reporting to the Regional Executive Director, the District Manager develops and maintains a broad network of strategic and business leadership relationships across the Natural Resource Sector agencies to communicate/collaborate project objectives and progress and promote successful delivery of the priorities and goals of the Ministry. Through this function, the role leads and contributes to strategies associated with the natural resource sector to promote economic and environmental sustainability.

About this Position:

This position requires the successful candidate to be in the Northeast region and work from any of the abovementioned 3 offices. The successful candidate must be located in the Northeast or should be willing to relocate.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
