      DIVISION

      The Employment and Labour Market Services Division (Division) supports all British Columbians in achieving sustainable employment. To help those in need find and maintain employment, the division works with contracted service providers to provide job search resources, employment planning, skills assessment, training, work experience and more.

      JOB OVERVIEW

      The Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives Branch leads intra and inter-divisional as well as cross-ministry initiatives as well as strategic and corporate projects. This includes:

      • Leading ministry involvement in the Province’s Future ready Action Plan;
      • Leading the development and implementation of the provincial Care Economy Workforce Strategy;
      • Works with Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) and Peers to integrate divisional activities into a cohesive divisional strategic agenda;
      • Represents divisional interests with ministry, cross-ministry, and external partners; and,
      • Leads ad hoc divisional strategic and corporate projects at the direction of the ADM.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS

      • Degree in business administration, public administration, related field or equivalent and a minimum of five years related experience.
      • Related experience must include:
        • Experience in a senior management role leading new business development projects and/or business transformation projects involving a diverse range of project portfolios.
        • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders across government as well external partners and stakeholders (i.e., private sector, non profit sector, local government, Indigenous organizations, etc.).
        • Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary teams in the development and implementation of a diverse range of projects.
        • Experience leading complex projects and work assignments.
        • Experience briefing senior decision makers and organizational executives.
      • Experience in balancing conflicting values and negotiating and/or mediating solutions.
      • Experience in strategic business planning; contract management; financial management; and leading multi-party negotiations.
      • Experience in a senior management capacity including business and organizational planning.
      • Experience in developing and implementing government policies, program management, service delivery planning and supports.
      • Experience leading organizational change.

      About this Position:
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
