      We have one vacancy for a band 5 Paediatric Nurse within our established team.

      We are looking to recruit either an experienced nurse or a newly qualified Paediatric nurse who has their pin number and is keen to start a career within this specialised field.

      UHB have a large, Paediatric service ran by a highly skilled and friendly multi professional team.

      We deliver high quality, compassionate care to a diverse community and strive to provide a positive patient experience in a safe environment. We provide treatment and care to children with varying levels of acute and chronic illness.

      We are offering enthusiastic applicants the opportunity to join the paediatric service in our large organisation.

      You will be supported to work across all Paediatric areas, including Assessment units, Inpatients and High Dependency. You will be given specific training by our dedicated education team to ensure you develop the appropriate level of knowledge and skills and gain confidence in your clinical practice.

      Within 12 months you will be working towards achieving a critical care qualification, the time taken to achieve this will depend on your progress and commitment.

      We operate a 24 hour, 7 day a week shift pattern, across Heartlands and Good Hope. Full time and part time hours available. Flexible working requests will be considered.

      Main duties of the job

      Paediatric Nurse development opportunity

      The nurse will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide care to Infants, children and young people who are patients at University Hospitals Birmingham.

      Within paediatrics we promote a family centred care approach to nursing and collaborate closely with parents, carers and their children when planning and delivering care.

      The nurse will practice autonomously, be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person-centred evidence-based nursing, that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.

      They will be responsible for assessment of care needs of patients and planning programmes of care, implementation and the evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.

      At times they will have the responsibility for overseeing the ward/department and supervising junior members of staff or learners.

      The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees and agencies, service users, their carers and families.

      The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work-based training associated with the role.
