- To exercise responsibility for the development, provision and quality assurance for the systematic provision of a specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy service to Specialist CAMHS. Including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, and implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To ensure that a high quality, timely, accessible child and adolescent psychotherapy service is available to those service users who need it.
- To work autonomously within the specialist CAMHS service offering assessment, formulation and psychoanalytic interventions as appropriate, to children, young people and their families.
- To be responsible for providing clinical supervision, consultation, advice and support to staff from other disciplines (including psychiatrists, psychologists and other professionals).
- To lead the Child and Adolescent psychotherapists (including doctoral trainees) within CAMHS and ensure the growth, development and co-ordination of this specialist service.
- To provide professional advice to the FYPC Professional leads to ensure child psychotherapy services are effective, well-co-ordinated and responsive to the changing needs of the service.
- 1. Substantial experience of working as a clinical specialist with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity.
- 2. Substantial experience of specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of patients in a range of settings.
- 3. Experience of delivering teaching, training and reflective practice groups to staff teams.
- 4. Experience of working within a multi-cultural framework.
- Substantial experience of providing supervision
- 1. Doctoral level training and qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy accredited by the ACP
- 2. Good honours degree
- 3. Full membership of ACP and registration with PSA as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and evidence of CPD as required by the PSA
- 4. Additional post qualification training and experience and/or further
- qualifications in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- 5. Experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
- 6. Additional specialist post qualification training in and/or substantial
- equivalent experience

Job summary
We are looking for a psychotherapist to lead and to continue to develop the psychotherapy service within LPT CAMHS.
The psychotherapy team comprises of 2 band 8as, 1 band 7, and 2 psychotherapy trainees within outpatients, and 1 band 8b (ARFID Lead), 1 band 8a and a trainee within the ARFID and Eating Disorders Team.
The team is welcoming, thoughtful and supportive and meets weekly for group supervision and additionally once a fortnight for qualified staff.
As the professional lead, you will work closely with the Directorate lead for the Psychological Professions, Clinical Team Leads, Family Service Managers and other professional leads within CAMHS to support service development and improvements and to embed psychological principles within the service.
The successful candidate will have considerable expertise in child and adolescent mental health, will be able to work collaboratively with others and recognise the valuable contribution of the MDT.
The lead post involves supervision, attending clinical leads and workforce meetings, liaising with the training schools, leading the psychotherapy meetings, holding a clinical case load, delivering internal and external training, and attending regional and national meetings as required.
