Description of Job
Reviews all bankruptcy cases filed in the State of Colorado, bankruptcy cases filed in other states that have nexus in Colorado, and bankruptcy cases filed in other countries that have dealings in Colorado. Files accurate Proof of Claims with all bankruptcy courts. Monitors and enforces all Colorado bankruptcy plans that are approved by the Federal courts. Attends and questions debtors and debtors attorneys' in 341 hearings when necessary to clarify State's position in the bankruptcy filings. Testify in court cases as necessary. Refers bankruptcy issues, questions, or compliance to attorneys at the Attorney General's office when required. Prioritize assigned cases to determine appropriate enforcement actions.
This position supervises three (3) Bankruptcy Compliance Specialists and one Tax Examiner II. Provide a clear description of employee responsibilities and inform employees of what is expected of them. Provide support and assistance to enable employees to complete work tasks. Ensure timely completion of work by monitoring activities of the work unit. Provide regular feedback to your employees, both positive and negative. Deal tactfully with employees. Conduct timely performance planning and appraisals for employees. Resolve personnel issues or problems constructively. Develop and utilize the skills of employees. Inspire employees to work more productively
Effectively manage and assign employee and departmental resources to meet the section and individual's production goals, i.e. Proof of Claims filed, attend 341 meetings of creditors, bankruptcy discharges/dismissals, processing of electronic and paper mail or specifically assigned accounts. Provide input and assist the Compliance Specialist IV's and the Tax Examiner II's with their work. Timely review the work submitted by the bankruptcy unit. Meet with the bankruptcy attorneys at the Attorney General's office regarding complex cases that require monitoring.
Thoroughly understand governing statutes, and possess appropriate expertise to perform job at a professional level. Keep appraised of current bankruptcy law and U.S. Bankruptcy code.
**Though this is a remote position, there will be weekly visits to the CDOR Howard Office at 2829 W. Howard Pl., Denver, CO 80204. Since the majority of 341 hearings are in Denver, residing in the Denver Metro Area is most convenient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience Only: Eight (8) years of relevant experience in Bankruptcy Taxation, Bankruptcy Code, 341 Hearings and management; OR
Education and Experience: A combination of related education from an accredited institution in Business, Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or related in a field of study AND relevant experience in Bankruptcy Taxation, Bankruptcy Code, 341 Hearings and management equal to eight (8) years

Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
