      The Genomics Sales Specialist for Brazil is responsible for ensuring achievement of regional sales objectives in line with Illumina's mission, by helping to accelerate NGS & Microarray systems sales plus respective consumables pull through. The role includes both pre- and post-sales activities that increase awareness of Illumina solutions, familiarizing sales teams and customers with associated applications and workflows. The Genomic Specialist is an important technical resource for the Sequencing & Microarray product lines, enabling growth through strategic activities, helping to build a community of satisfied customers, as well as providing regular feedback/intel on specific sales opportunities, the market, and competitor activities to the sales team.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Participate in strategic sales activities, working closely with sales & management team to achieve sales objectives, winning sequencing & microarray opportunities.
      • Communicate essential product knowledge to sales team and customers.
      • Identify innovative and competitive solutions to improve the customer experience.
      • Develop strategic plans for winning new business, expand market share, and build upon existing programs.
      • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of the market environment including: current and possible future industry trends, practices, and information affecting the business; competition and competitive environment; marketplace strategies and tactics.
      • Provide thought leadership in pursuing new/unconventional approaches to solve customer challenges, empowering and inspiring others to think and approach challenges in innovative ways.
      • Maintain effective relationships with internal product teams and marketing, to bring key technical product knowledge to the field.
      • Initiate, develop, build, and maintain long-term relationships with all levels of customers, fostering an environment defined by strong customer focus, developing/ applying insights into (while helping to shape) customer requirements.
      • Assist sales & management team to develop customized territory plans, then support their execution.
      • Read, understand, and communicate key findings from current & relevant scientific publications to sales team and customers.
      • Assist with workshops, seminar series, and other marketing activities, including technical presentations on Illumina product lines at tradeshows/conferences.

      Educational requirement:

      • • BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences, PhD preferred.

      Preferred Experiential Background:

      • Must be fluent in Portuguese & English.
      • Strong technical background in molecular biology and NGS technology is required; microarray experience is preferable.
      • Preference for broad experience in the fields of Microbiology and/or Agrigenomics.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, to clearly discuss technical information/solutions with sales team, distributors, customers, and prospects.
      • Must be comfortable giving customer-facing presentations, often to large audiences.
      • Independent, highly adaptable, strategically minded, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as a member of a multifunctional team.
      • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
      • 2+ years of work experience in the Life Science industry, preferably with sales, support, or other customer-facing role.
      • Willing to spend ~50% of time in the field, while strategically optimizing travel time for best return on investment.
