      Ciena is hiring a Broadband Business Development Specialist based in the United States. This position can be remote based anywhere in the US but living in the Western half of the US is preferred.

      Responsibilities

      • Help increase Ciena brand awareness of Last Mile products and solutions within the US, with specific focus on Tier 3 & 4, Rural, and Tribal service providers.

      • Establish trusted relationships with State Broadband Offices and local government officials for the purpose of gathering information on Federal and State broadband funding programs offered within the state.

      • Identify & drive new Ecosystem Partners (Construction companies, Engineering Firms, Fiber deployment, etc) to increase Ciena’s brand recognition for Last & Middle Mile solutions as well as establish Go To Market plans to co-sell within the broadband space.

      • Work with Ciena’s Channel Reseller teams to help drive tighter alignment and increase Ciena mindshare within the Strategic Broadband Channel Reseller account teams in order to drive net new Last & Middle Mile pipeline opportunities.

      • Maintain industry knowledge of the competitive broadband landscape and help educate internal teams as well as Ecosystem Partners and Strategic Broadband Channel Resellers on Ciena’s competitive differentiators.

      • Travel required (can be as much as 50-80% at various times throughout the year) to attend National and Regional Broadband focused Tradeshows as well as to have in-person meetings with Ecosystem Partners and Strategic Broadband Channel Resellers in order to educate on Ciena’s Last Mile Broadband Solutions as well as to inform them of any new information concerning State and Federal funding programs within their territories.


      Experience and Attributes
      • Greater than 5 years of Broadband sales or business development experience, preferably with an IT hardware or software vendor.

      • Self-starter, capable of "owning" the process of uncovering and keeping data current on assigned territory’s Federal and State funding initiatives as well as being able to summarize and distribute that information internally, both electronically and verbally.

      • Results-oriented, confident, excellent organization skills, motivated with honesty / integrity / ethics and having a sense of humor.
      • Excellent presentation skills. Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written) when interacting with both technical and non-technical customers as well as the ability to present at Tradeshows or Industry Events.

      • Strong business and technical acumen. Strong problem solving and organization skills. Creative and innovative in approach to driving brand awareness and education of Ciena’s Last and Middle Mile solutions.

      • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, executives and state and local officials as well as internally.

      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent years of experience.

      The annual total target compensation pay range for this position is $168,400 - $278,300. This includes both base and incentive compensation. (For Sales roles that are TTC in the Salary Range Tool)


      Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

      Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
