Job Description

- Manage broiler operations by establishing procedures and adjusting as necessary to meet production schedules, increase efficiencies and meet or exceed budget objectives
- Manage location breeder operations, (i.e. placement of chicks, flock health monitoring, etc.) ensuring compliance with all company requirements, animal welfare and federal and state regulations, laws and guidelines
- Manage day to day scheduling of live birds ensuring production schedules are met
- Perform evaluation of routes and broiler farm performance as it relates to live costs
- Manage broiler producer relationships, breeder growing agreements and goods and services, monitoring performance and associated costs ensuring company objectives are met
- Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
- Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions on a fair and consistent basis
- Ensure reporting is accurately completed and recorded as required
- Follow and promote all safety initiatives, helping to maintain a zero accident culture
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Company policies, NCC Animal Welfare guidelines, and Federal and State regulations (i.e. USDA, OSHA, etc.) while achieving the highest level of productivity
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
- Manage a team of Broiler Representatives, Technicians and Clerks
- This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management
- Bachelors’ degree related discipline from an accredited institution
- Combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving history
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in poultry grow-out
- Minimum four (4) years demonstrated leadership experience in a similar environment including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, Top 25 behaviors, conflict resolution with the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
- Strong customer focus with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner
- Must have exceptional communication, both verbal and written, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively in English
- Proficient computer and math skills
- Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail
- Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
- Follow and ensure others follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
- Ability to work non-standard or extended shifts including nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
- Ability to work in an outside environment (including inclement weather) to visually inspect birds; walking from one to several miles per day
- Ability to travel between grower sites
- Ability to work around strong and possibly foul odors such as ammonia
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible overseeing poultry Broiler operations including operation of breeder farms, contract grower management and department employees.
