What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Prepare and manage the biennial and supplemental operating budget for the agency
- Develop decision packages for maintenance and performance level funding
- Advise management on spending strategies and monitor expenditures against allotments
- Design and implement analytical models for fiscal data projections
- Communicate with various stakeholders regarding state legislation and institutional policies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be able to plan and prioritize deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum education: Master’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, or statistics; OR Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant experience; OR nine years of relevant professional experience
- Three (3) years of professional experience in budgets, management, or program analysis
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to meet the needs of others
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with state budgeting and reporting systems, including Excel and Word
- Knowledge of the Washington State financial management process
- Familiarity with the Washington State Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and Budget System (ABS)
- Experience preparing decision packages and fiscal notes for legislative sessions
- Proven analytical skills for financial research and modeling in complex environments
