What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Compile and create financial reports while analyzing and monitoring budget variances, revenues, and expenditures
- Develop and maintain internal and external budgets for assigned programs
- Provide timely and accurate executive-level financial information and advice to program managers
- Coordinate financial analysis for fiscal requests from the Office of Financial Management and Legislature
- Lead the development of biennial budgets and internal service level budgets in collaboration with service owners and directors
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Nine years of professional experience in budget development, execution, and report development; a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, public administration, or a closely allied field may substitute for four years of experience
- Exceptional organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including creating Pivot Tables and writing formulas such as VLOOKUP and IF/SUMIF
- Ability to analyze budget processes and provide financial guidance
- Experience in developing budget requests and reviewing legislative bills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Two years of experience with Washington state budget processes and applications
- Six months of experience with Washington state accounting processes
- Familiarity with information systems such as AFRS, Workday, or ERP reporting
- Experience writing funding proposals or similar documents
- Knowledge of the Washington state legislative process
