      The Business Development Manager, Data Acquisition and Control - Mil/Aero manages all major Data Acquisition and Control programs in collaboration with sales and business management in the Military and Aerospace markets. The main scope of this position is to work with the various programs to promote United Electronic Industries (UEI) and VTI Instruments' products and to grow the business. Responsible for driving sales within existing and new programs, assisting with product definition based on customer requirements, collecting and analyzing data, and improving the overall customer experience. The Business Development Manager is responsible for ensuring customer needs are understood and satisfied, for the assigned programs as well as new and developing programs. This position reports to the Director of Business Development and Strategy, UEI/VTI.

      Responsibilities

      • Identify potential new clients and markets, conduct market research, and develop strategies to target key accounts.
      • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
      • Develop and implement business development plans and strategies to achieve revenue goals and market expansion.
      • Conduct market research to identify new trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
      • Collaborate with sales teams to develop proposals, presentations, and sales pitches.
      • Learn and understand each program’s business and technical needs and desires.
      • Work collaboratively with the business to define and implement program needs.
      • Discuss and demonstrate UEI and VTI technology.
      • Ensure steady and organized follow-up on sales opportunities through emails, phone calls, etc. to ensure the expected level of sales.
      • Report progress of all ongoing activities on a weekly basis during team opportunity review.
      • Diligently utilize the CRM system to maintain record of communications, quoting, meetings, demonstrations and current/accurate forecasting.
      • Work collaboratively with Regional Sales Managers to close program business and develop new program business.
      • Participate in trade shows, technical events, open-house, sales meetings and other sales events.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree; degree in engineering, computer science, physics or a field related to the role will be considered.
      • 5 years of experience managing programs/projects and a solid understanding of procurement, planning, and engineering interactions.
      • 50% travel is required.
      • Due to the nature of UEI and VTI’s programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

      Desired Qualifications

      • Previous complex engineering sales experience or previous data acquisition and control experience strongly preferred in the Military/Aerospace/Space markets.
      • Experience in B2B technical sales, past DOD programs sales management a plus.
      • Strong facilitation skills, including ability to negotiate both internally and when customer-facing, on commercial and technical matters.
      • Self-directed and independent work ethic; measure and report progress against defined objectives.
      • Meticulous critical thinking skills; objective approach to analysis and total business impact.
      • Excellent written skills appropriate for documents suitable for publication.
      • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and exemplary moral character.
      • Ability to work on site in the Norwood, MA facility when not visiting customers is preferable.
