- Participates in the development and support of business strategies.
- Communicates effectively within the team and with internal and external customers, including presentations to all levels of management.
- Identifies, establishes, and prioritizes goals and key metrics.
- Provides services, makes recommendations, and manages costs.
- Own third-party and supplier (carrier) relationships.
- Deploy new systems and documents QMS process flows
- Provide oversight of the data domain and set standards of excellence.
- Manage reconciliation of accounts payable with suppliers and internal finance partners
- Support the sourcing of carrier lanes by working with internal partners.
- Ensure compliance policies (trade automation, privacy, anti-corruption, etc.)
- Lead cost savings, quality improvement initiatives, and operation execution
- A 4-year degree, preferably in supply chain, or accounting.
- 5+ years of related experience
- Strong conviction, open to considering alternative points of view.
- Business acumen and understanding of accounting concepts
- Strong change agent; effective communicator with internal clients and outside partners
- Proven project management experience leading initiatives from inception to execution
- Ability to effectively communicate with other team members and end-users
- EXPERIENCE: Must have a proven record of success and accomplishments at lower levels, preferably with prior supervisory experience. Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, ability to work under pressure, good judgment, and superior communication skills. Strong analytical, process improvement, problem-solving, and human relations skills are also necessary.
- 5-9 years of freight audit or accounting experience is recommended
- Freight audit and payments management experience
- Power BI and Tableau exposure
- Data systems management experience

- Exposure to EDI and other data integrations
- This position is in-person, San Diego, Prague, Morton or Peoria-based. There are no relocation benefits provided.

Objective
Global Logistics continuously seeks to improve processes, reduce costs, mitigate supplier risk, and improve quality. The focus of this role will include managing third-party partners and leading cross-functional teams, deploying new systems and processes worldwide, working with data across multiple systems, and ensuring accurate day-to-day audit and payment of freight invoices. The incumbent will provide technical guidance and expertise on business issues of high complexity such as applying General Ledger's policies to transportation invoices, managing tax accounting procedures, and synthesizing data to support annual RFQ procurement processes.
The incumbent will propose global freight audit and payments strategies, and lead the day-to-day execution to improve the audit of freight invoices, collection of global logistics spend data, synthesize data to show carrier performance, and improve carrier on-time payment, and cost reduction while employing lean processes to reduce labor costs.
Dimensions
The Business Manager role typically manages multiple assignments simultaneously with urgent deadlines impacting cost, revenue, and margin. They manage, cost accounting, create documentation, and serve as a liaison between internal customers, data providers, and outside partners. They are responsible for analyzing multiple data sources and following up on discrepant invoices to explain root causes and propose opportunities for improvement.

Summary Pay Range:
$117,485.00 - $176,227.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
