What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately enter hospital charges into the Patient Accounting System in accordance with charge capture policies
- Conduct daily charge reconciliation and ensure the accuracy and completeness of entries
- Communicate with clinical departments regarding missing documentation and charge entry errors
- Attend scheduled meetings and trainings, and adhere to health information regulations including HIPAA
- Identify and escalate issues that may negatively impact patient care or department operations
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical or healthcare disciplines, including charge entry or medical records
- Excellent data entry and quality outcome skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with computerized billing systems
- Strong analytical skills and current knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Related undergraduate study or coursework from a college or trade school
- 1 year of experience with advanced education degree/certification
- Knowledge of legal and fiscal requirements in the healthcare industry
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
