- Charge Entry: Accurately enter charges and billing information into the electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems, verifying the accuracy of CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes.
- Quality Assurance: Review charge entries for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with billing guidelines and healthcare regulations.
- Coding and Billing: Apply knowledge of coding standards to ensure accurate and compliant charge capture, correcting and clarifying discrepancies when necessary.
- Data Verification: Confirm that all required data, including patient information and insurance details, is complete and accurate before submission.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the billing and coding teams to resolve issues, clarify documentation, and ensure accurate charge capture.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of charges, corrections, and adjustments in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on changes to medical billing, coding standards, and insurance guidelines to maintain compliance and accuracy.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in charge entry, coding, billing, or a similar role within the healthcare field.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration preferred.
- Knowledge: Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT and ICD coding systems, and healthcare billing processes.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with EHR/billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with remote teams.
Position Summary
The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering and reviewing medical charges to ensure proper coding and billing practices are followed. This role is critical to supporting the revenue cycle by ensuring timely and accurate charge capture. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in coding, billing, or charge entry within the healthcare industry, along with a strong attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD codes.

The estimated hiring salary range for this position is $20/hr - $22/hr. * The actual salary will be based on a variety of job-related factors, including geography, skills, education and experience. The range is a good faith estimate and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for a range of benefits including medical, dental and 401K retirement plan.About the company
