What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Investigate, process, and adjust worker's compensation claims under the supervision of the Claims Manager
- Review first reports of injury and follow up with claimants and medical providers to determine compensability
- Process new claims and maintain up-to-date files and diaries on all active claims
- Recommend and set up Independent Medical Evaluations and assign Rehabilitation Nurses as necessary
- Exercise discretion in the settlement of claims and oversee litigation on contested cases
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- Three to five years of related experience in claims handling or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Wisconsin Worker's Compensation Act and claims handling practices
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license and provide an automobile with acceptable liability insurance
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with claims software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
