      What You’ll Be Doing:

      • Engaging with our care community leaders and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead to provide subject matter expertise in the areas of infection prevention and control
      • Conducts onsite visits in the care community to support the sites in coordinating and implementing best practices and policies and procedures in clinical care and infection control practice
      • Conducts onsite visits to care communities quarterly and during outbreaks to ensure that IPAC processes, compliance to PPE, donning and doffing and hand hygiene practices are in place
      • Provides education and coaching to team members on clinical care and IPAC practices
      • Creates content to assist with educating residents, team members and visitors
      • Works with the IPAC Lead to implement quality improvement initiatives that may result from internal and external partner visits.
      • Contribute to quarterly IPAC quality report
      • Reviews monthly health and safety inspections for IPAC and safety practices i.e. needle stick injuries, PPE concerns, cleaning and disinfecting equipment concerns
      • In collaboration with the Regional VP, Executive Director and DOC, provide follow-up and support to care community team members in order to ensure that care meets and/or exceeds the organization’s and provincial health authority requirements.
      • Assist care community team members to identify and actively collaborates to mitigate risks to improve and sustain a safe environment for our residents. This may include engagement of external resources (e.g. subject matter experts, etc.)
      • Provide subject-matter expertise for the development of required policies and procedures based on current evidence.
      • Acts as a support to the Regional VP Operations, as a member of the Regional team to enhance sharing and communication to achieve quality outcomes for residents within the allocated resources.
      • Able to facilitate change in a manner that leverages positive relationships and supports joint problem-solving and aligning with strategic directions.

      What you need to know:

      • Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) & in addition to University Degree (required)
      • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in infection control
      • Previous experience in long-term care or health care sector is preferred
      • Has a good understanding of adult learning principles and teaching methods to facilitate learning
      • Knowledge of the Fixing Long Term Care Act & Regulations is preferred
      • Strong oral and written communication skills required
      • Willingness to upgrade and maintain personal and educational qualifications as required by the changing demands of the job
