What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review patient medical records to ensure accurate coding and representation of illness severity
- Educate internal customers on clinical documentation and coding practices
- Create job aids and queries to support training initiatives
- Conduct follow-up reviews of clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with coding staff and healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate coding practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate's Degree in Nursing minimum required
- Minimum of 5 years of Med/Surg acute care clinical experience; ICU experience strongly preferred
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Strong clinical knowledge in respiratory failure, sepsis, CHF, ATN/CKD, and complex pneumonias
- Experience with 3M Coding and Reimbursement and/or 360 Encompass preferred
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 1-2 years of experience as a CDI Specialist
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding
- Epic experience preferred
- Certification as a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) is advantageous
- Strong organizational and communication skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
