What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Educate and train CDI Specialists on clinical documentation and coding regulations
- Perform post-discharge reviews to ensure accurate patient acuity and DRG assignment
- Document findings and follow up on physician queries to maintain medical record accuracy
- Coordinate with CDI team members to identify training opportunities and facilitate education
- Participate in quality initiatives and targeted audits in support of departmental goals
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3 years of CDI experience as a concurrent reviewer
- Educational requirements include a diploma in nursing, health information management, or higher
- Must possess a valid RN, RHIA, or RHIT license, and a CCDS or CDIP certification
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology in a hospital setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with providers
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in quality improvement initiatives within a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with Case Mix Index (CMI) and data analysis for optimizing performance
- Previous involvement in clinical education or training roles
- Knowledge of current literature and best practices in Clinical Documentation Improvement
- Assertive communication skills to facilitate ongoing physician interactions
