What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Facilitate improvements in clinical documentation quality and completeness for inpatient records
- Assign diagnoses and procedure codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and billing requirements
- Collaborate with physicians and care teams to enhance documentation clarity and accuracy
- Educate team members on coding changes and clinical data integrity
- Assist with data collection and analysis to support quality management initiatives
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management and/or a coding certification (CCS)
- Minimum of two (2) years of inpatient clinical coding experience or completion of competency assessment for inpatient coding
- Proficiency with Encoder/Grouper technology and basic keyboarding skills
- Successful completion of required education courses
- CCS, CDIP, or CCDS certification required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with Concurrent Coding models
- Experience in a healthcare setting focused on clinical documentation improvement
- Knowledge of third-party payer rules and regulations
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
