What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Improve the quality and completeness of clinical documentation through interaction with healthcare professionals
- Analyze patients' clinical status and treatment plans to identify gaps in documentation
- Educate nursing staff and clinicians on compliant documentation and accurate coding
- Reconcile discrepancies in documentation with coding staff and ensure compliance with regulations
- Monitor activities to ensure all clinical documentation meets State and Federal payer requirements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School graduate or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred for Registered Nurses
- If a Registered Nurse, must hold a current license to practice in Mississippi
- Minimum of two (2) years' nursing experience in an acute-care facility or two (2) years' coding experience in an inpatient setting
- Must be certified by AHIMA or AAPC in relevant health information management roles
- Must complete de-escalation training within 90 days of orientation
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- CCDS certification preferred
- Understanding of APR-DRG's preferred
