      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Review, code, and analyze medical records to abstract relevant data into the online computer system.
      - Assign Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) to Medicare, Medicaid, and other required payors.
      - Ensure accurate coding following established coding principles and guidelines from AHA, AHIMA, and CMS.
      - Communicate with the Patient Accounts staff and coordinate with the manager on any coding issues.
      - Complete medical record data entry duties, ensuring accurate and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures.

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Certification as a CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) is required, along with maintenance of the certification.
      - Minimum of three years of inpatient coding and/or CPT ambulatory surgery coding experience.
      - Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding principles.
      - Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology necessary for coding.
      - Ability to maintain an accuracy rate of at least 92% for coding records.

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Designation as RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H.
      - Experience in a large acute care facility.
      - Advanced medical and surgical coding experience.
      - Ability to mentor and train other coders.
      - Familiarity with state and federal regulatory guidelines for reimbursement.
