Responsibilities The overarching role of Commercialization is to enable PepsiCo to accelerate growth by rapid development and flawless execution of ‘Fewer, Bigger, Better, Faster’ innovation. Commercialization’s mission is to deliver innovation program & project management excellence, via efficient and agile commercial processes while effectively leveraging PepsiCo resources to become Faster, Stronger & Better. The Commercialization leadership role for the SA Foods MU will be key to enable the business’ growth agenda and drive functional capability. The role is accountable for delivering the BU Innovation & Commercialization agenda. Key responsibilities will include Hopper / Pipeline Portfolio & Calendar Management, ownership of the Innovation Process, Governance Forums (e.g. Stage Gate), Innovation Analysis & Reporting and ensuring flawless execution of innovations through Project Management excellence. Accountabilities include: Lead Hopper/Pipeline Portfolio Management, drive pipeline quality through leveraging a deep understanding of the innovation need, current pipeline health & size, risks, resources, unlocks and trade-offs required to deliver the business targets and ensure the right innovation portfolio choices are made to drive simplification & leverage Own the Innovation Process & Governance, including leading monthly BU Stage Gate meetings, ensuring appropriate governance of projects via differentiated Stage Gate, ensuring that critical innovation pipeline KPIs are effectively being managed, balancing the risk/rigor associated with each project and delivering effective decision-making forums where critical risks and issues can be discussed prior to final decisions being made Deliver world class Project Management for key innovation projects. This involves leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects, driving end-to-end unlocks and overcoming any challenges so that the innovation can be launched. Manage scope, timeline, risks, contingencies, costs and act as ‘single voice of truth’ in projects in managing stakeholders via providing impartial view of project status to drive decision making Own Portfolio Analysis & Reporting, systematically assess & report Innovation health & performance including as part of annual Innovation processes, ensuring flawless execution vs KPIs (business & process) to drive change and continuous improvement e.g. Speed to Market, on-time execution, NR vs plan, NR/project. Own Accolade innovation reporting as the ‘single version of truth’ Own Calendar Management, building a rolling 18-36 month calendar, driving simplification via scale ideas while minimizing cost and complexity across all functions. Specific focus on the risks / readiness of the key projects Developing & embedding Best-in-Class Innovation & Commercialisation Capability within the BU (training, tools, processes, scorecards), driving agility, simplification and speed-to-market and ensuring consistency with Global & Sector best practice. Ensuring that Commercialization is integrated and well-wired into core business processses such as the Strategic Planning Process, AOP and iS&OP. Qualifications General Competencies Bachelor degree in Marketing, Engineering, R&D, Commerce, Financial or related disciplines, 8+ years experience, with at least 4 in middle management Very high level of business acumen - must be commercially & organizationally savvy and financially astute. Exceptional team leader with strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to influence at all levels. Managing and leading within ambiguity - working within a complex, fluid cross-functional environment managing significant amounts of change, and being able to influence a broad base of functional stakeholders & peers. Ability to be both challenging & enabling and comfortable managing & resolving conflict. Results-oriented with a high degree of personal initiative and leadership – can operate well within a low resource, fast-paced cross-functional environment. Strong process thinker committed to driving process efficiency, strength in data analysis and interpretation in order to develop business recommendations. Deep knowledge of how to develop and launch FMCG innovations, including consumer ideation and Insights processes through to Make/Move/Sell capability. Proven results delivering significant business change within a fast-paced, cross-functional, matrix environment. Proven commercial project leadership/management skills, ability to manage complex functional interdependencies in project timelines. Excellent coordination and planning skills – robust problem solving and critical mindset.
