      The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Communications Specialist 2, within the attached agency Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce. Under general supervision, this position plans, develops and implements a communications or outreach program, and/or public relations plan for an assigned agency, department, facility or function. The person filling this role will develop informational publications and presentations, and plans conferences and seminars for social or community outreach. This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor. The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment based on the business needs of the organization. This is a full-time, unclassified position categorized under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as exempt.
      The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia's four health agencies serving the state's growing population of over 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) and Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians.
      Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state's most vulnerable and under-served populations. Six enterprise offices support the work of the agency's three program divisions. DCH employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.

      Job Responsibilities

      • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
      • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas.
      • As a team member or individually, participates in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public.
      • As a part of a team, participates in the contract issuance process and ensures timely execution of signed agreements under the direction of a supervisor.
      • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with area business community, internal and external agency customers, and other related contacts.
      • Identifies main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to communicate.
      • Work with contracted sites to communicate outcomes on both internal and external platforms.
      • Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication.

      Minimum Qualifications
      High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience of communications or job-related experience. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year or year.
      Preferred Qualificaitons
      Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of communications or related experience OR three years of communications or related field OR One year of experience required at the lower-level Communications Spec2 (GSP040) or position equivalent.
