- Produce and post content to social media sites regularly; monitor activity, respond to comments, and track public engagement metrics.
- Research, write, and edit audience-appropriate content (news stories, web features, social media posts) for various platforms.
- Assist in maintaining a master website content calendar; copyedit and proofread content to ensure consistent tone, style, and branding.
- Bachelor's degree in public affairs, education, environmental studies, marine affairs, marine biology or related.
- Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in the areas of communications, social media, or public affairs within a NOAA mission-driven environment/contract.
- Proficiency in social media monitoring, copyediting, and working collaboratively with subject matter experts to plan and develop content.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
- Capacity to manage multiple competing deadlines in a fast-paced "quick response" environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support events and related logistics.
We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to support the Communications Director in the execution of daily communication activities and project coordination. This role focuses on content creation, social media management, and the drafting of professional-grade materials for internal and external audiences. This position is contingent upon contract award.
