- Assist the Director of Regulatory Compliance in developing, implementation, maintaining, and monitoring the Bank’s compliance management system to ensure consistent adherence to all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements impacting operations and customers.
- Maintain and update the Bank’s current Compliance Risk Assessment, policies, and applicable procedures in accordance with and to adequately communicate the Bank’s compliance risk profile to the Board and Management.
- Oversee, implement, and manage the Bank’s compliance monitoring program, ensuring risk-based changes are reflected on the risk-based monitoring schedule and all reviews are completed with reasonable scope and frequency. Formalize and ensure proper timing of request lists, entrance meetings, reviews, draft reports, exit meetings, and final report issuance to provide consistency to the Department and the affected Business Units. Assist with the development of monitoring workpapers that adequately reflect current regulatory and industry expectations.
- Conduct first and second line compliance reviews of applicable regulations within the various business units, ensuring detailed conversations with business units, and mentoring, where appropriate.
- Ensure all findings and observations are promptly added to the Bank’s Issues Tracking Log (ITL) and monitor completion of corrective action. Ensure future testing includes validation of corrective actions prior to closing an entry on the ITL.
- Identify, track, and analyze additions and changes in law, regulation, or guidance introduced by both federal and state authorities impacting Bank operations and customers.
- Assist the Director of Regulatory Compliance to develop a strong change management process for the communication and implementation of new regulatory requirements, products, services, and programs.
- Provide adequate guidance and mentoring to Compliance Staff members regarding monitoring, change control, projects, and goals.
- Provide guidance and support to all business units regarding regulatory compliance. Conduct research, as necessary, to address questions and implementation efforts. Partner with business units to ensure the ongoing maintenance and effectiveness of respective compliance activities, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a current knowledge of all Bank-related federal and state laws and regulations and monitor legislative and regulatory developments. Coordinate the gathering of information requested during consumer compliance examinations and develop responses to any related findings.
- Cross-sell bank products and services in a professional manner.
- Complete required training associated with job function.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking
- Minimum of ten years banking experience with at least five years direct experience in the federal and state regulatory environment impacting the banking industry. Designation as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager preferred or willingness to obtain after first year in role.
- Broad-based knowledge of the various federal and state laws and regulations surrounding all aspects
- High level of analytical skills and ability to work with department managers to modify existing Bank processes and procedures to ensure adherence to changes in regulatory requirements while maintaining high levels of customer service.
- Good organizational skills and ability to supervise many areas simultaneously.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to ensure effective dissemination of complex regulatory requirements to impacted Bank personnel.
- Effective coaching and leadership skills to facilitate career development of direct reports.
- High level of confidence and integrity to maintain independent judgment and privacy of customer and Bank information.
- Ability to prioritize and change direction as the need arises.
The Compliance Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a strong compliance culture through the effective planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Bank’s adherence to all applicable federal and state consumer protection laws and regulations.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
